Ben,

So much is going through my mind today. This year I have a greater appreciation for the men & women who serve in the military as well as their families. It’s not that I didn’t appreciate your service or their service for our country before, but since you’ve been gone I feel that I have a little bit better understanding of the sacrifices for freedom. No, I don’t fully comprehend those sacrifices because I have not served as you did, but I know what those families go through having their loved ones go off to war and even possibly having to give their lives for this country. I’m sure you’re up in heaven saying don’t make a big deal out of all of this, but I want you to know that I am so proud of who you were! I’m sorry that I didn’t always tell you that. You and your dedication to our country will never be forgotten! We love you & miss you so much! Save us that spot next to you in heaven, because someday soon we’ll be up there with you! J
